Our story

Who We Are

A small Christian charity offering professional, face-to-face counselling across Norfolk since the 1990s — run on faith, funded by generosity.

The organisation

Centre for Christian Care and Counselling

4Cs — the Centre for Christian Care and Counselling — is a small charity operating in Norfolk. We are funded primarily by donations from individuals and churches, and all our counsellors give their time voluntarily.

Our aim is simple: to provide accessible, professional counselling to people who need it, at a cost they can afford. We operate on a suggested donation basis of £10–£45 per session. We can accept less, or in some cases nothing at all, if financial circumstances require it.

We are rooted in the Christian faith, but that does not mean we impose faith on clients or make it a condition of receiving support. We welcome people of all faiths and none, and our counsellors do not make value judgements about the choices or beliefs of those they see.

We are a registered UK charity. Our Charity Number is 1074818.

How we work

Our approach

We offer integrative and person-centred counselling. That means we work from a range of models and tailor the approach to each individual — rather than fitting people into a single technique.

Person-centred

At the core of what we do is the relationship between counsellor and client. We believe that being genuinely heard — without advice, without judgement, without agenda — is itself deeply therapeutic.

Integrative

Our counsellors draw on a range of approaches including psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioural, gestalt, and existential therapy, depending on what seems most helpful for each person and each issue.

Christian-rooted

4Cs was founded by Christians and is informed by a Christian understanding of people and flourishing — but this does not make our service exclusively for Christians. Some clients find that faith themes emerge naturally in counselling; others prefer to leave them to one side entirely. We follow the client's lead.

Professional

All our counsellors hold professional qualifications and membership of BACP, UKCP, or ACC. They receive regular clinical supervision. We adhere to a strict code of ethics and confidentiality.

Our people

The coordinator

The day-to-day running of 4Cs is managed by our Counselling Co-ordinator, who handles initial enquiries, assessment appointments, and counsellor allocation.

The co-ordinator is your first point of contact — whether you're applying for counselling, making a referral, or enquiring about supporting the charity. They are the voice on the other end of the phone, and the person who will guide you through the process from first contact to first session.

Our counsellors

All 4Cs counsellors are trained, qualified professionals who give their time voluntarily. They are supervised regularly, hold professional indemnity insurance, and are subject to DBS checks.

We aim to match you with a counsellor whose style, availability, and experience suit your particular needs.

Governance

4Cs is governed by a Trustee Board that meets regularly to oversee the work of the charity. We have policies in place covering safeguarding, confidentiality, and data protection. Copies are available on request.
